Our Mission
The Amber Louise Elchert Foundation is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization providing assistance to special needs children and their families while building awareness of the needs and requirements of these special families within a community
Two weeks after Amber passed away, I was moved to write this about her life and death. I wrote it with tears and a broken heart and I know her hand guided me as I placed the words on paper. I use it as inspiration when life becomes challenging. I have shared this with many who were dealing wih struggles or were approaching the end of their journey. They have told me that it brought peace, calm and hope.

No matter your struggle "you can do this!"
Amber was born on April 1, 1991 with HLHS which is a complex heart disease, that required 3 open heart operations before she was 18 months old. Doctors gave her no chance of survival past the age of 6 months. She would later contract Protein Losing Enteropathy at the age of 2. Throughout her life she lived with courage, faith and character. Though she was sick all her life, she still attended school with her peers never missing a grade. She attended Muhlenberg College where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology just four months before her passing. Amber's motto was "I can do this" and she did! Her desire was to help terminally ill children live full lives and that is why she studied Psychology.

This foundation was one of her last wishes. " I want you to continue to help other kids like me after I am gone. You were my protector and I trusted you daddy. I want you to protect and help other kids" So I proudly take this next step in honor of my precious Amber.

Love Amber's Daddy
